Yeah, it happens in Texas as well. Swimming in warm and stagnant waters is too appealing in the heat of summer. Nose plugs seem to be the only prevention.

I doubt it happens up there. It's rare down here, but if it kills your grandkid - that's a lot.

I'm going camping with my kids and grandkids over the holiday weekend at a nearby reservoir. It's the main source of water for several towns here, but the water is brown, stagnant, etc. - and it amazes me that my kids will get in it. They do tho, so I do too - hoping I can quickly find any bodies that go missing, and that none of us acquire an infection.
 
The wife and I are headed up to Marietta Landing on Lake Murray. Recon trip for us. The scuba parks are ok but we've gotten tired of the same ol stuff.
