....with the strong north current, it was more difficult than it was worth.....
I was landlocked but talked to another captain. He said the biggest dive flag balls were being pulled completely underwater to disappear even with 300ft ++ line out as they hooked off on rocks. Shorter lines lost complete flotation sank to the reef. They were GPS marking 'last sightings' and time stamps to track divers so they wouldn't get-away.

Thanks for the detailed report !!

Do y'all think the upcoming storm from the gulf could affect diving in the WPB area next weekend?

Went out on Pura Vida today, the deep boat. Mid reef and then corridor starting from the Mitzpah to the barge. Visibility was great. Current was light but going south when we first dropped on Mid Reef. It was going North when we were on the corridor. It was a little bumpy out. Captain headed into the inlet during the surface interval.

I had a trip over scheduled for 10/11-13. I’ve canceled my plans and rebooked my charters. Conditions do not look good at all next week and through next weekend.

When you dive locally, you have the luxury, as a visitor, you are at the mercy of the conditions.

Definitely. But anyone planning to dive in SFL next week through next weekend needs to seriously rethink their plans. Just my 2 cents. Doubt there will be much diving happening.

Agree. Also they started to 'slowly' dump Lk Okee today. If we get alot of rain, they will open the gates even more. Hope your home & town are safe from storm damage. Tampa and south to Venice waterfront got killed with water & sand.

In Palm Beach County they are draining all in inland canals in to the intracoastal and out in to the ocean.... No viz for at least 2 days.

Will be looking for the BHB vis reports. Pretty much if vis is blown out there, it's also blown out oceanside.
