Quick condition update before I head back to the West Coast. Went out with Pura Vida again today. Another beautiful day top side. Sunny, light winds, temps in the upper 70s.1 foot seas, light to moderate north current, beautiful blue water, 50 to 70 foot visibility, 72 to 73F water temps. We did Shark Canyon and the Danny/Atlantis/Spud barge.

Others have posted bunches of Lemon Shark picts off Jupiter and really clear water. Sounds like you had good dives and thanks for the conditions reports!!

Zero current by the end of the day today. Generally 50- ft vis and maybe 72 degrees would be my guess, but found considerably colder and clearer water in 120, with 80 -100 ft vis, so it seems like some very recent upwelling was happening. Also we saw large schools of kingfish during dives and on the recorder.

Not too many lobsters and almost zero lionfish.

Also saw something I think is unusual: a good number of large short spine urchins, moving as a wave over the flat reef, eating all the algae. Behind them was white, in front of the leading edge of the urchins was still green/dark (more or less). Urchins were packed pretty densely in these areas. Probably 90-105' north of the inlet, maybe around Mac Arthur park?

The reefs need more of this.

The reefs need more of this.

I think the reefs will do good this summer. Lk Okee is way down at 12.9 when it should be in the 15's for this time of year. And they are predicting(?) a La Nina summer which means lower rain fall. I don't see them fully opening the flood gates until maybe September and that will really help our reefs & water quality.

I think the reefs will do good ......
I'll take back everything I said....

The Dredge E.W. Ellefson, a cutter/suction dredge, is expected to remove approximately 191,000 cubic yards of shoaling material from the entrance channel and the settling basins over 2-3 weeks. Operations will continue 24 hours daily, seven days a week, until completion. Dredge material placement will be pumped and screened onto the adjacent beach at Palm Beach Island, immediately south of the inlet’s south jetty.

Construction activities on the beach, which include preparation, actual placement of dredge material, and demobilization, will begin on or around Feb 17, 2025, and take place over a 5–6-week period
