Confirmed my perspective today. Deco bottle reg set came with a MiFlex hose. No matter how I tried to relax the hose, it was still stubborn and took too much attention. I think other people have better luck with MiFlex but, for me, MiFlex isn’t compatible with my preferences for a clean, streamlined configuration. Rubber rules!

if you wanna to have cheap and soft "like miflex" hoses - read this :)
price for crimper equal to 3-4 hoses... :) If you need more new hoses - it reasonable.

How to make own "Miflex-like" hose:
In our country we have one very famous rebreather-man "Leonych". E.g. his rebreather:

So, he invited new way how to produce miflex pipes! :)
Here they are:

How do you think it`s made?

Just PU pipe, like here:

and alpinist (climber) rope

Your remove core and stay just shell.
Put PU pipe inside, and than follow to first message in this topic :)
Fore more security used two shells.

I had idea to make Supersoft hoses, using silicone pipes, but Leonych told me on the last exibition this year, that silicone pipe slips out of the ferule.

or you can use old Soviet style for scuba hoses:
I used Miflex (original and chineese), with long hose - it chafing my neck. With normal 20" hose with tank on the back - it is good.

But now I use such hoses (it is original, from 2nd stage manufacturer, soviet scuba Ukraina-2)

it looks like water pipe for garden :) but it strong enough and very soft and comfortable.
IP for this demand valve is around 6-7 bar (85-100psi)

Braided hoses has another problem - after one-two years some of braiding wires became brocken and starts to prickling all around.

Good thing he’s got the dust cap in place. Wouldn’t want anything compromising his breathing gas path.

I am no hose specialist but I have had an issue with one of the original flex hoses that came with my reg set. My shop and the company did replace it. The outermost part of the hose started to fail at a connection after 2 years. I guess they aren’t more resistant than rubber hoses. I am staying with flex hoses however as they do look sharp and I like how light and nimble they are.

Okay for you, but,............................Black is still The New Black.

Thanks for the input from all !!

New Regs from some Reg Manufactures come with braided Hoses ..... Something To Consider !!
As the outlaw Calvera said from movie "Magnificent Seven"
" Some How I DONT Think You Have Solved MY Problem" :)

No. Emphatically... NO!!
First, read the two DAN articles on the topic, in order:
Alert Diver | Invisible Crystals
Alert Diver | Air Hoses: A Closer Look

Brand does NOT mean nothing!! The problems observed are due to the choice of material for the hose liner. If you feel confident that a brand you are purchasing uses polyether-TPU and NOT polyester-TPU, then go ahead and by it. Otherwise steer clear.
Miflex is the only OEM brand I am aware that publicly makes that distinction, and is the only brand that I would buy (or sell). Although the DAN articles do not name any names, either for good or bad, it is fairly obvious that they are referring to Miflex when they say "A well-known European producer of braided hoses, which has always used polyether-TPU, since 2008 has required its materials supplier to certify its polyether-TPU hose linings."

Miflex is now commonly used on various branded regulators, but is rarely specifically called out in product specs. You can always ask, and/or check the stamp on the crimp to know for sure. I have no doubt that some of the major brands used a different supplier in the past, before this issue came to light.
Nice try, but not so much. Miflex will be the first to tell you that you could have the same problem with their hoses. If you are selling genuine miflex hoses, all you have to do is open the packaging on one of the hoses. You will find a piece of paper telling you all about it. Miflex hoses do have a cover over the crimp at the end of the hose and the dye job seems to be a little deeper... so you do get those benefits. Miflex may very well own the patent on polyether-TPU (or not, I have no idea) but it doesn't result in a hose that lasts any longer than any other flex hose. If the results are identical, then "polyether-TPU" is just marketing mumbo jumbo.

I use Dive Right in Scuba double-braided flex hoses and they're great. They're very light and take up very little space for traveling, whether when flying or to local dive sites. After they've been coiled tightly, their "memory" lasts for a second until you straighten them, then they're fine.

How much tighter-coiled can they be?

I have one Milflex hose on the primary recreational regulator just to relieve jaw stress due to hose routing.

Just FYI, I bought that hose when they first came out, (10 years ago?) and it’s still in good shape.

I don’t use them anywhere else. My tech primary is a regular 7ft rubber hose. Since it’s routed differently, there’s no jaw stress.

I don’t particularly care for them because they’re coarse and too flexible. They can bend in unnatural ways and a reg sweep may not work if it somehow gets behind. But, there are some applications for them.
