Hey Oxy, are you signed up for your cert. class already? I've been loosely following this thread and see that you are doing a lot of research on gear, too.Just curious.

Grrrr. still waiting on the insurance ppl to cut me a check. they stiffed me the first time around. but I do have most of the gear i want figured out so it shouldn't take long after I get settled (crosses fingers) to get in class with gear.

Damn insurance companies!! I hope you get your check and gear soon.Maybe after you get certified you can show me where to find my very own sharks tooth! If you don't mind me asking, where are you going to take your lessons at?

TOOTH? I want a whole jaw now:rofl3:
.
Sea d Sea is 4 blocks away and they have the bare arctic suit that I want
And If I go with Oceanic reg they have that also.
If not there I may go to Pacific Wilderness cause Venice is a rough trip from here.

Barry is a nice guy and long time owner of Sea D Sea. I did my certs through Pac. Wilderness in San Pedro, good instructors, good rep, too.I'm sure you'll be happy with whoever you decide to go with.

I'll be happy if I don't wash out:D
.
And I would be ecstatic if I could get the gear I wanted on these specials
Free tank with this package. free air for life for signing up. bc,reg, octo, console (for the price of a reg). additional 10% off full package plus 2 years free parts & labor.

I am sooooo tempted by that June special at sports chalet "SeaQuest Latitude XLT" $299:dork2:

But It is not what I really want:shakehead: This could still change, I haven't placed an order at DSS yet.

I used a vest for my first pool work session in class. Then my brother's lightly used SeaQuest Black Diamond came in the mail. By the end of class I had the fit issues worked out. By the third day of OW dives I went to weight in the BC pockets instead of a weight belt.

The Black Diamond, a back inflate BC, was more comfortable and easier to trim.

My LDS and I am sure online shops seem to have BP/W set ups for the same price or less than the Black Diamond.

ARRRRGH! I can't believe my luck. The paper work came back today in the mail. I forgot to initial in a couple spots on the last page. There goes another 2 weeks.
I wonder if it's harder to certify in December?
will have to change my profile to include "luck" If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck.

Often times, it's cheaper to get cert in December.

Cheaper maybe but I might need a Kevlar mouthpiece to prevent biting it off in the cold:D
Actually I'm still hoping to get OW before the Dive-in in July (would hate to be the only one to show up with a snorkel as my only dive gear):rofl3:

it's a GOOD thing I did not have the money in my pocket when I made the decision to scuba.
Now I am having second thoughts about a bc
aside from increased cost I am now seeing what looks like 4 basic kinds of bc
bc
integrated bc
back inflate
bp/w

FWIW, there are also hybrid bladder BC's now such as the Aeris Atmos LX.
