Buying the best reg you can get (minus nonsense materials like Titanium) is always a good idea.
Check the classifieds. Buying a quality used reg is a good idea. I own - and dive - a lot of used regs.
Hell, I'll sell you the wife's Aqualung Legend setup with an aeris QD computer console. It's out of service (hasn't been in the water in probably 3 years), and the battery is most likely dead, but I imagine a shop would charge close to 1200 bucks.
It's only been used about... 10 times. How does $400 sound? Figure $100 more for service, and you're still coming in at WELL under retail.
