This is the JB Weld Epoxy we've used

This is the stuff I use to connect diecast (zinc) metal parts, as well as plastic parts (and sometimes to each other) when I am building my custom models.

I’m not familiar enough with the differences between this product and what you are showing.

If you are of the opinion that what you are showing is superior, then I will acquire some and use it instead.

Thanks for the continuing interest.

@ibj40,

As I said in an earlier post, I'm not an expert in epoxy gluing properties. Since you already have one JB Weld product recommended for metal&plastic, I would stick would that. Good luck.

For those of you who are keeping score, JB Weld application occurred this afternoon at 2:30 US Central Time.

I plan to wait an entire 24 hours before re-installing the battery cover.

Stay Tuned!

Crap!

I was overly cautious with applying the JB Weld, worried about getting it in the threads, and clearly didn’t put enough in.

Right side still holding strong from initial graphite/Superglue.

Next time I will put a little more JB Weld and also see if I can notch the sides of the holes.

😡

Well, coming here for a post mortem.

Finally able to dive salt water this past week, and here are the results.

I thought I had gotten the left two inserts back in correctly. The screws pulled down (using a #00 Phillips), and everything seemed to be tight.

First dive was to about 50-60 feet, and here's the result.

Clearly the back never sealed properly, and actually allowed salt water to get into the computer itself.

Enough corrosion to completely destroy the "+" terminal connector.

The culprits, as expected, were the left two inserts.

Anyone interested in a dead Oceanic Pro Plus 2?

Hi @ibj40

I don't know if you are interested, but the Pro Plus 2 might still be replaceable under the Oceanic Service plan for $175. The service page lists the PP2 as obsolete, but with limited availability. It would not hurt to inquire. I last had a PP2 replaced in November 2019, it was already called obsolete with limited availability.

Going to give it a try.

I'll let you know.

If not, got two spare battery sets (o-ring, battery, and lube) to get rid of.

I have a PP2 in my SAD that could use those kits if you feel so inclined to be rid of them.
