So I want to get a new regulator. I really like balanced regs and I've been particularly interested in the Oceanic Alpha 10 + cdx. As with any purchase I tend to mull over things and there isn't much in terms of review for the Alpha 10 cdx from the layman, although the cheaper versions ranked highly in the 2017 roundup.

My budget is 400 but I'd push it a bit if it makes an extreme difference (perhaps the Cressi AC10V Master Cromo?).

I feel like companies like deep six are just too new and potentially unreliable down the line so I am not really interested in anything other than name brand e.g. cressi, aqua lung, apeks, .etc. Used is also not of interest.

Anyone have any real world experience with the Alpha 10? Is it noisy as the review says? Would money be better spent on another type of reg?

Sherwood Blizzard Regulator

For warmer water a Magnum or Brut would work as well. All are environmentaly sealed, and the manufacturer has a great track record.

Last night I picked up a Sherwood Oasis 2016 for 300 on eBay vs 399 from the major retailers. Item was brand new never opened. Thought it was too good of a deal to pass up; esp considering I suffer from dry mouth when diving with most regs.

I would avoid all AUP products at this point .They have never been able to keep parts kits or parts on the shelves and with their acquisition by Huish who already owns Zeagle and Atomic, I'm not entirely sure their regulator brand is going to be that long lived....

Not entirely convinced that the Sherwood Oasis actually works from a dry mouth perspective, but at $300 it's not a bad deal

Last I checked we were a name brand.... lol. I honestly wouldn't worry about us down the line. Collectively I think we have something like 40+ years in the industry. I will shy away from commenting on other brands mentioned, but a little searching will turn up that things are not always the way they appear.

I meant no disrespect I think what you guys are doing in the industry is great  Local servicing was also a point of consideration. Also was in a bit of a rush and you guys didn't have any stock at that time. I did suggest to your CR rep that I contacted - instead of removing items from your website completely when they are out of stock - just put OUT OF STOCK next to the item.

I wish I could do that.. unfortunately if I left the item in stock to keep it visible and just added that to the label people would have ordered anyway and then been upset when it wasn't shipped immediately.
