It takes me about 30 minutes to clean a tank and materials costs is less than $1.00. The valve might tank an additional 30 minutes if done right, cleaning materials would be less than $0.50. The major costs for a valve is a new seat and blow out plug. If you go with some of the prepackage valve kits that could run you $30. But most of the time you don't need to replace a seat, so $10 for a blow out plug and say $1 for o-rings.

At $50-60 no one is making a lot of money for doing tanks, but 125 is out of line.

Here are my tools - I do have a rope light not shown and a 40 ready for a blow dry. Use Hot water and blow dry with good air quickly (Tank will be dry within 40 seconds of draining) and you will never need to use a flash rust inhibitor.

Good informations.

Up on further dicussion with an employee of LDS1, they do tumble on top of what Doc Harry described. So for what they do, $100 maybe reasonable. The real question is if a tumble necessary for O2 cleaning?

Some update about LDS1. i have a lengthy conversation with the owner today. Basically, they do honor O2 clean sticker from trusty shops. They gave me a list of shops nearby that they approve. They however do NOT honor O2 sticker from shops that had problems before,, such a shop include shops that do NOT pump O2 compatible air, and shops that has done poor job on O2 cleaning before. So I think this make sense.

They still want $125 for O2 clean a used tank tho. But that is their choice, I don't have to go there.
I always wonder, "what sort of problems?"

Why would you get a cylinder tumbled unless it was needed ? Seems like they are inventing reasons to charge more - I'd avoid....
