Just curious what the process is. One of my LDS requires O2 clean tank for nitrox fill because they do partial pressure brending. That is understandable. However, they are asking $100 to $125 to O2 clean a X7-100. I just wonder if the cost is reasonale. Reason for asking, because I have some nitrox fill card with ths shop. Not sure if it is worth to O2 clean then take advantage of fill card.

Let me guess, the shop sells ScubaPro and/or Aqualung and is likely associated with ANDI? $100 or up is about twice what I am used to paying. There is a lot of scam, e.g., a shop says that:

"we use special cleaners made by a specialist in supplies and chemicals for oxygen cleaning. These special cleaners are basically made of citrus juices, combined with other chemicals and concentrated just for hydrocarbon removal."

Translate, swish "Simple Green" around in the tank.

yeah, sounds about twice what it costs here.Maybe they looked inside the tank and saw rust and need to tumble it before cleaning? That may explain why so much..Even with a tumble it is higher than what we charge in NY.

It is not the one you are thinking about. PM name, let's share the names.

Well, they haven't even look at my tank. I simple call and ask how much to O2 clean a X7-100. The guys says about $100. when I look up their website, it is actually showing $125. Let me call this LSD1

Another LDS's (let me call LDS2) website show O2 upgrade for single tank & valve is $35. Not sure if that includes VIP or not. However, LDS1 does NOT honor O2 clean stick from LDS2. So this lead to my next question. Is "O2 clean" needs to be shop specific? Or it is an industry standard?

That's way out of line. You could actually ship it to me and have it O2 cleaned and shipped back for less than that.

Pretty lame that they PP blend. What shop is this? Not that I really care, just curious.

Not honoring another shop's O2 clean sticker is the mark of greed and would be a place I'd stay far away from. That is just ignorant.

At my shop I charge $15 for the tank and $15 for the valve plus the o-ring kit (about $5), tack on another $15 for a full VIP and we should be done. Total $50. Considering the time involved I feel that is pretty reasonable, if not even at a bit of a loss for me. I would rather have the tank and valve cleaned properly and not risk an issue, than to charge high prices and scare people away. A dive shop shoul dwork hard to keep their procedures in line so they can charge a fair price.
