Hello,

For normal compressed air titanium is a GREAT material. However the problems arise when you run hot mixes. i.e. nitrox

I have yet to hear of one exploding into flames or melting...

Well except for one...lol. I think they can handle a 40% mix or a little more?

Sure like the way that titanium feels... MAN it is cool.

There was an Atomic reg that was exposed to 80% for a couple years that ignited on a guy in California. It was O2 cleaned and everything, but the titanium didn't hold up. I believe the manufacturers of such regs say they are fine for O2 levels up to 40%.

Regardless, titanium is just another expensive gimmick out on the market. A waste, IMO.

Hello,

Yes this is correct. However if your looking for something you can wait longer periods of time before cleaning and a better metal for harsh enviroments then titanium is right. However there is that nasty side to it.

I used Apex when they were sold by Zeagle. I still have two of them. All my new regs are the new Zeagle regs. Same basic design with some improvments. I like them a little better. They seem to breath dryer and The adjustment on the second stage works much much smoother. Even though I don't have numbers to prove it I think they even breath better. I have 4 of them and love them.

I highly recommend the apex atx200, ihave been diving one for the last 6 months, amazing, is all i can say. The instructors i work with are jealous of my setup. with its light weight, small size, ease of service, I don't think you can find a better reg.

On the recommendation of members on the board here, i will be getting 3 DS4/TX40 for all my new deco bottles. I havent used them yet so i have no opinion as of yet, i will post my comments at a later date.

One minor correction id like to make

Blacknet stated that "BTW titanium is a class C fire hazard"

it is actually a class D but im not splitting hairs :)
