Two quick questions:

1. i dive with a MK 17/G250V brand new just got it. i am wondering if this is a nitrox capable reg?? cause i cant find anyhting about it???

2. Whats really the big difference with what type of regulator that u use for nitrox. why arent they all compatible with it??

All regulators are compatible with Nitrox up to 40% O2. Manufacturers would like you to buy a second special reg but it is not necessary. Above 40% the reg must have O2 compatible o-rings and lubricant. Some regs come ready for 100% O2 out of the box but not many as most use rubber o-rings and rubber and high O2 don't get along. A nitrox class should cover all this in detail.

well im planning on doing my enriched air course soon
and im not sure if my reg set would be good for that??
how do u know what percent u use and when u use it... whast the difference??

The MK17/G250V would be just fine for nitrox use. THey are ready for 40% nitrox out the box, and a ballpark guess would put the highest mix you would use recreationally at maybe 36%. The nitrox class will cover what percent to use and when.

But if your major issue is if the reg you have is OK for nitrox, relax, it is. It's the same reg set I use for both for 21% and higher. Normally I use EAN32%.

If you wish, when you have your regs serviced have them O2 cleaned, then you're doubly set.

Your reg will be fine for recreational nitrox (max of 40% O2). As for knowing what percent to use and when, you'll learn all of that in your course.

Not a problem unless you are going to use it for deco gas. Are you?

Unless you're going to be doing some serious technical diving, it's highly unlikely you'll be using 40% Nitrox. 36% will be about as high as you'll ever go.

Any reg can use that. Same for your BC and any other gear that's taking gas from your tank.

Advertising a regulator as a NITROX regulator is really a sham. All regulators are NITROX regulators ... right out of the box. If you are using a mix with 40% or less oxygen your regulator needs no special anything, so saying a regulator is "Nitrox compatable" is sort of like saying, "delivers gas at ambient pressure."

Damn! You mean I didn't have to O2 clean my wing??:D
