I have been using my Proton Metal with a V-16 1st stage for over 2 years & love it. I have a enviromental kit(cold water kit) since the water off our shore is not that cold 45-70% depending on currents, but we have quite a bit of particle material floating around.
I have also started my move to doubles so I bought another(used) V-16 with a XTR 2nd & had a kit installed on it also. I mainly just wanted to have my doubles set up look the same.
I just have 1 question. The top of my 1st stage stayed on for 1 1/2 years with no problem, but I lost it on a dive. My LDS owner gave me another, but it fell of the next dive. I wonder if I can get a couple of these tops anywhere. They are a little longer than the normal top. I hate to go back to my LDS & put him in a spot of trying to keep me happy (I am a faithful spender in his shop). I know he robbed another kit to supply me with the one he gave me & do not want to have him do that again.
Is ther any way of securing them better?
