Do buy insurance on these??
They’re insured through my Contents coverage on a home owners policy for theft, fire, flood, wind

  • Unless cave diving, you don’t need long duration batteries.
Nonsense.

We run our scooters a decent distance off shore and need every bit of capacity we can get. I’ve seen drag be higher than normal, offshore currents (that one was creepy) , and leaders just going too fast for the blacktips, all lead to dead batteries. FWIW, I have towed in several genesis guys too 🤣

I have a blacktip in my stable and I like it a lot for what it is and what it cost me. Maybe it is enough for most divers, but cave isn’t the only application where you need a much larger capacity.

What is your favorite (and "bestest"? What do you recommend for long distance shore dives? I am set on the Seacraft GO now (was planning to buy the Blacktip tech before).

I am not an expert on DPVs by any means. I am personally experienced with divex scooters because I got all of mine used and modernized them. A couple of my buddies have blacktips, couple have genesis, there's a decent number of suex that show up and we have one seacraft future. I am very impressed with the seacraft.; it is a well thought out, fast, and high quality. When I dive I usually grab my Cuda or my Piranha when I like to make a lot of obnoxious noise ;)

If money was no object I'd go with a Genesis. Logic dive is a Norcal company and I always like to support small local companies.

Because the Genesis forgot to charge his scooter?

Yep, you called it. First guy didn’t know how to properly charge his scooter so who knows how much charge he actually had. Second guy thought he could do multiple dives on single charge and went one too many.

When I buy toys, I buy toys that I can’t outgrow. Neither this or the blacktip meets that requirement. I just ordered 3 Genesis 3.0’s. I have one spare if anyone wants it.
At over $8k per item -- a lot more than the $2k-ish for the Blacktip!

You didn’t ask me, but I can buy 5 of any scooter I want right now and my wife not even bat an eye. I dove the Genesis because it is the best of the best. If you look at the 2.2 (because the 3.2 isn’t out yet mostly) it beats all the other guys in anyway you can measure it. Faster, longer burn time, better throttle.
