@James79 @lowwall

Thank you very much for your explanations. It makes sense and I see the point now. The "Pro" version appears to be the better version for dive school/rental use for more/finer and faster adjustability especially if it is used with the SP weight pockets on the waist harness. I suppose that for somebody buying their own kit for their own use, it would make sense to use the "Pure Tek" version.

Edit: I think that one still needs the "Pro" version with shoulder strap adjustment to be able to take care of the scenarios @James79 describes of people with vastly different upper body measurements with or without weight pockets since there will be a huge amount of excess in the waist straps when a smaller person is using the kit in rental or training scenario. I I just have to try both versions to decide. I want to try the "Pure" with weight pockets on to see how much adjustment I can get and if it is sufficient for the shoulder strap adjustment :)

I have looked at the xDeep "Dive School" version of their BP/W bc and they have adjustment, via fastex clip, in the shoulder straps and also rapid adjustment feature in the crotch strap. the SP version doesn't appear to have any provisions for rapid adjustment in the crotch strap as the xDeep version. This feature may make the rental/training kit much easier and faster to adjust from one student/customer to a different student/customer in the rental/training scenarios.

This is all guessing on my part since I haven't tried or even seen the xDeep or the SP kits in person so far.

I suspect with either the Pure or Pro you'll end up having to set it up with at least 2 rough sizes with different heights on the upper D-rings, waist buckle placement, crotch strap length and waist belt length.

Since you probably won't be using the D-rings during OW class, they won't have to be precise. The waist buckle placement is a quick adjustment if you do a simple threading. I think the only issue is going to be the crotch strap adjustment. You might want to do a DIY version that replaces the scooter D-ring with some sort of quick adjust.

Edit: just read your last post. Looks like we have the same thought on the crotch strap. You are also going to want to have something people can self-adjust :-)

YES!! This is what I am thinking about as an enhancement to the SP Pro STek kit.

On my DIY BPWs, we are using 1 inch webbing for crotch straps... attach to the plate and then the loop is just done up with a triglide. The kids are growing fast, so adjustability is key! lol

Why is there so much emphasis on wear and tear on the webbing? I don't think this is a real problem. At least I have never had it happen on my webbing.

Anyone have any idea how much this cost??

The price difference between the S-Tek Pure 30 system and the X-Tek Pure 30 system here is $458 [AU].
That is a lot for little or [if at all] any gain.
I do like Scubapro always thinking 'outside the box' though.

Do you really want to know??? It is one of these things where if you have to ask, it isn't for you :P

So I did some googling to see what everyone was talking about, I am disappointed to see this:

The X-Tek STA was a cheap was to get two of the Scubapro QD bands when I was building my BPW. So when I build my travel setup I will probably see if I can find NOS of the X-tek STA.

Found this video on the backplate

I got to say, I do like the detailing of how they bevel the edges, and I do like the carry handle. I dislike going away from the standard folded design with camband slots.
