Spoon:
what are the differences between this wing and the h evolve in terms of design and construction?

The Halcyon Evolve 60#, the OxyCheq Vertex 55# and another wing are in the process of being tested and reviewed by a Professor of Physics and I am told that an article will result from the testing.

I am sure that article will note the differences in materials, shapes and performance. I feel very comfortable that the Vertex 55 will have a favorable review when related to performance, quality of materials and construction.

Rather than me telling you the differences between the two, I prefer to only talk about the Vertex. It is streamlined, very well balanced, has an outer shell made of Codura with a heavy coating of urethane on the inside of the shell. It has a standard urethane bladder and has a 360 loop and an inside zipper. The neck is narrow making reaching your valves easier, minimal neck fatigue (if any) when the wing is blown up, and results in superior balance because a lot of gas is not needed in that area. It dumps gas quite well. In fact, those comments on performance can be said about all of our wings.

I am optiomistic and look forward to the results of the testing and feel the Vertex 55 will have a favorable review.

Once the article is complete, I will be happy to tell you where you could get the article. That said, I am not a big fan of tests because quite often there is a bias towards advertising dollars. In this case, I do not think that will be an issue and I know the credentials of the person doing the testing. I should also note that this is the first time I have provided a wing for this type of testing.

I got my new Mach V yesterday. Wow! I think I have a new favorite. I got nothin' like this.

... cut off the little flappy thing and then put some inner tube on the inflator hose. I haven't been so excited about a wing in a long time. This thing is TIGHT! Looking forward to giving it a good soaking.

...so... I set it up out in the garage. Got it the way i wanted it... on an old plate and a standard STA. Put on a reg and hooked everything up. Slipped into it... yep, still easy to reach my valve. Man... I like how it sits on the tank. It looks really cool from behind... skinny and long. All day long I had to keep going back to look at it. It's just really different. It looks like it will be a lot of fun to dive. It looks like it will vent really quick and easy.

I was wondering when I was going to see some excitement.

I am working on another project and hope to have it ready for DEMA --- if what I am working on will work (and I think it will) --- you will be amazed. All I will say is that it is related to wings and there is nothing like it.

Best regards,

Patrick

Stephen,

You will be even more excited when you dive it. If you go back to a post about 2.5 months ago whane I first mentioned the Mach V, I was prettu excited and now you know why.

Unzip the bladder --- feel the outer shell and feel the inner bladder. Tell me if you have felt anything built as well as that.

Patrick

I thought about bringing it to work today but.... :D

It'll be a few days before I can play with it again. I'll take it to the lake this weekend and give it a good going over.

That is OK --- however, giving it a name or taking it to sleep with you just might be stepping over the line a little. :)

Kinda like our mutual buddy who put his one and was walking around the garage with it in his skivvies, when I got the call from his wife wondering what we were trying to do to him...
