Received my Mach V a couple of days ago and it looks fantastic. Great finish. Thanks
COVCI and Oxycheq for the price and quick service. I just discovered that I prefer using a STA. I don't detach the wing from the backplate when I rinse it, it only weighs like 6 #s (1/2 # for the STA) I hope this doesn't make me too much of a lazy idiot but I remove the inflator hose then run water through it with a garden hose and partly fill the wing, slosh, and turn the whole thing upside down. I have found missing (redundant) zip-ties this way that I might otherwise not have noticed.

I'm sure idiot was much too strong of a word in the passitionate debate, but I really thing the 15 to 30 seconds it takes to remove it from the plate does allow a much better bladder rinse. Yes, I am anal about the rinse --- a long time ago (10+ years) I took a bladder out of a wing to patch it. I was shocked to see the amount of salt crystals I had in there --- even thought I thought I did a good rinse. After that experience, I shake the crap out of the wing and it is a lot easier to do it with the plate and wing removed.

I am sure I could not shake the wing like I do with the plate attached. The other reason I like to keep it seperated is that I don't want anything hard near the wing that can damage it. I also keep them blown up when I am done.

Please post a report on the wing after you dive it. Hopefully, you will like the way it dives as much or more than the appearance.

Now, back to finish the lead in the weighted STAs --- what a way to spend a Saturday.

Best regards,

Patrick

Ha! Too funny!

Picture those baby sitters that make national news for child abuse --- that is me with a blown up wing that is half full of water.

Speaking of cleaning wings, did your friend ever get the blemish off that Halcyon wing? Curious minds want to know.

Well... I'm washing my gear and doing my taxes between rinses. :yuck: I can only hope someone out there somewhere is having fun.

Probably not ... those H's are damned difficult to remove ... ;)

So how about some of you guys that already have the MachV post some photos.

I also have a question for you Oxycheq owners... Is it relatively easy to remove the logos? Does it leave any marks behind? (I have always taken off my H logos and they come off pretty easy and clean.)

... and how about that flap thingy over the inflator elbow... does it serve a purpose and if not does it look like it could be removed without damaging the wing? Some of my other wings have a "tie-down" for the inflator hose... is that what that thing is... it's hard to tell from the photos.

yes the first thing i do when i get the wings is find a way to color logos black and remove that flap on the inflator hose

The flap just gets in the way and makes things more difficult, but it's not as bad as the thing on my halcyon explorer 40 was which made screwing and unscrewing the corrugated hose for travel and cleaning a real task. I'm afraid to remove it though because if I (or my girlfriend) ever decides to sell the wing, then it's value may be decreased by such modifications, but you can just not put the corrugated hose through it and let it flap about...

edit: just to clarify, i was talking about the razor 30#, which has the same flap as the mach V (as far as I can tell from the pics), but the flap is mostly just an irritation.
