New Oceanic Pioneer Ultra Clear Mask

I've been in a number of meetings this week regarding the Pioneer project - there is serious movement in the right direction. We've approved a vendor and finishes for both the standard and LE versions. I expect to have a delivery date that we have absolute confidence in very shortly.

Any news of a release for the LE version? I was hoping to use it in Cozumel in about 3 weeks. It has been so long since I orded one, that I have been issued a new debit card. I will have to update my order.

I too would like to know when the LE version of the mask will be out. If it's not going to be ready very soon, I'll need to buy another mask to replace my Oceanic Bivu 4.

From what've heard the LE will be release sometime in July.

This is just one looooong wait....We have been hearing different release dates since before Dema(October). Im not holding my breath anymore with release dates....when it comes out it comes out. I apologize to any of our customers that have these on order, but this is truely beyond our control! Remember you have NOT been charged on these....We will contact you when they come available to see if you still want the mask

I am confused. The Oceanic site says it still has problems. Is the LE really shipping? Are the standard versions really shipping?

Well, I got mine last friday (6/5/09). It the regular version with blue accent. Took it for 2 days of diving in San Diego wreck diving and I must say it's very comfortable and great field of vision. I ordered mine from scuba.com and I believe they are sold out. I originally ordered the titanium accent but due to back order, I decided to go with blue and it was their last one in stock. They told me the LE version won't be ship out until sometime in July and I confirmed by calling Oceanic. All I have to say is that get one you won't be disappointed. I ordered 2 one a regular version and a LE version since last July. It was worth the wait.

I tried one on and it didn't feel so comfortable on my face...it looked kool but there's never a guarantee of a good fit. Try before you by masks, fins, wetsuits, etc.

I have to agree about the fit; this mask is a little bit on the wide end of the spectrum. I would say that my face is of average width and even though the mask sealed the skirt was pulling away at the temples a bit. Not a huge deal, especially once you add in the strap, but if your face is even a little bit narrower than average the odds are that this mask isn't going to fit you all that well. It's a pity though because otherwise it looks even better in real life than it does in the pictures.

UPDATE
We have begun shipping limited quantities of the standard version. Limited Edition units will unfortunately be delayed until August.

We have been severely delayed by an effort to requalify a new frame material - and then another for the plating – for both versions. It has been quite an experience for all involved, including our valued dealers and end-users.
