Mr. Mike Pedersen, Operations Manager
Dive Right In Scuba.com says:

Im not trying to make a sale.... and Im not trying to push this on anyone....just trying to be a friend.... ...from MIKE PEDERSEN....not a salesman or store owner....JUST A FELLOW DIVER sharing his passion... Geez some people have to make things difficult for others to have fun and share their experiences.......I guess next time I will be sure to wait until I dive it first instead of getting excited and sharing what I opened....

Ain't that nice, he just wants to be my/our friend. OK, hey friend, how about letting me borrow that reg and I can judge it for myself?

.....Damn some of you are just brutal for someone that is just trying to share new equipment....

That's why we're here....that and to yank your chain....good luck with your new toy and business. :)

Actually, Im in the process of trying to see if I can pass this around for multiple reviews. So if your interested, PM me your name and contact info. I should have some info by Monday :D

So will you be my friend  LOL....ya its been too long of a day and looks like I let the forum get the best of me today....Oh well, almost time to go home and have some whiskey

No review...I guess next time I will be sure to wait until I dive it first instead of getting excited and sharing what I opened
You're sharing it? OK! I'm always interested when someone is sharing their new toys:wink:

Like I said, Im seeing if I can share it. Its not my toy, its Oceanics that they are letting some stores Demo for a couple days. I dont have permission yet.....but its worth a try
Well if they let you share their new toy, I'd be interested. Sure is a nice looking reg though.

.....I'm sure I'm not alone on this, but many of us do appreciate your sharing the new product information with us, so please don't be discouraged by a few 'negative' comments.... Thanks again!

Karl

Sorry, that's not how threads work on SB. You called it a review. It's not. Or at least, it's the worst review I've ever read. Do you write for Scuba Diving magazine? I get that you want to generate sales, but this is pathetic. You couldn't even wait until you'd actually breathed this under the water before posting?

Yea I think your right. but how about the old one the Delta 4?

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced its new regulator pick. In the June issue of Undercurrent, we wrote about NOAA's new rules and regulations for government divers in response to the death of two Coast Guard divers in Alaska last summer. One major change was giving the boot to all regulators Coast Guard divers had previously used for cold-water diving. After testing of multiple regulators, NOAA found Oceanic's Delta IV to be the most reliable.

"It consistently came up first for meeting all our criteria, and it won't freeze up in cold water," says Lieutenant Eric Johnson of the NOAA Diving Program. The Delta IV is an environmentally sealed diaphragm regulator and its first stage has Oceanic's Dry Valve Technology, designed to stop moisture and contaminants from entering and to prevent corrosion of internal components. NOAA bought 350 of the regulators and now requires its 500 divers to use that model when diving in water temperatures of 50 degrees or less. Johnson says the Navy's experimental dive unit is using them, too. The Delta IV is also commercially available for sport divers; Oceanic's suggested price is $570.

Cold-water divers should definitely invest in a good regulator that won't freeze up underwater. Two people died last April because of that problem. Jason Balsbough and Daniel Frendenberg, both age 21, and Sherry Eads, 43, went diving in a quarry in Gilboa, Ohio, where the water temperature was 38 degrees. Another diver called 911 to report the divers were down. Balsbough had regulator problems but was able to surface by himself. Frendenberg and Eads were too deep and their regulators were too iced for them to breathe.

Dive right in Scuba I have to say thank you. Don't listen to the mouths. Theres always negative people. But I believe the majority of divers want to know about new products. I didn't see you trying to sell anything just informing. Again thank you and keep stuff coming.

As for the Royal being around 50 years? I'm sorry I've only been diving over a little over 30 years. But the best of the best old time regs. Then the vast amount of tech divers, military divers etc. Divers from all over the planet will say the number 1 reg is the Poseidon. The 1st single hose reg in the world and still one of the best breathing regs today plus the design is still made the Cyclone 5000 and the all metal 6000. PERIOD DONE.

Now opinions are like ... well you know the term. But lets forget opinions and deal with just the facts. So, those that try and make "fun" of the Oceanic reg (down grade it) Let's see the "FACTS" written by the Government posted above.

I am not interested in testing it, and I always appreciate information about new products that may interest me. My questions are how does this differ from the Delta 4 in size, performance or meaningful features? I guess it looks nice but I don't really care about looks and spend little time looking at my reg.

I really don't mean for this to sound sarcastic, I truly am curious about the reason I would want this over a Delta 4.

Well......After more dives on it, its been free flowing pretty easy. I guess there was a bad spring or something, so its hard to give you the best feedback as far as that goes...BUT vs. a delta 4, the sizing is about the same. THe only difference is obviously breath ability. It definetely breathes better than the delta 4, but without know what Oceanic is going to retail it for, its hard to say if that breathing difference is worth it in price. My recommendation would be to try it when it comes to your store, still no estimates on any of that is this was very preliminary testing, and see if the breathing is that much better to warrant an upgrade.

Again, its obvious there needs to be some fixes and retesting on Oceanics part, but it did breath better than the delta 4.....easier, fuller breathes and little effort....but what will they change to stop the free flow issue and how will that affect it, I dont know

I hope this helps a bit
