www.freedomfilm.com:No coz pics, but we have lived in Mexico for quite a while in the past...
Why? Easy
1)Economics
2)Availability
3)Fishing Season
4)Hurricanes
5) Any or all of the above... You pick...
And the hamburgers at the McDonalds are also made with the famous Argentinian beef. They are fantastic.
I have had 2 experiences in 2 years where we have been served frozen imported lobster while in Mexico. Once in cozumel, and I forget the name so i dont want to make a mistake by mentioning it, and once at the (ironically) "Puerto Madero Buenos Aires" restaurant at Marina Barracuda in Cancun. We had high hopes for this supposed Argentinian Steak House and Fish Market, and the ONLY fresh fish on the menu was the grouper. I know, we asked the Maitre'd and were shown the kitchen and selection.
Unless of course the Caribbean Lobster now comes with claws...
I've never personally seen or heard of anything but Caribbean lobster in Cozumel...I can't speak for Cancun or any other part of Mexico except to say that things are done completely different in Cozumel in many respects than even our neighbors to the NW in Cancun. Despite the geographic proximity to one another, they are two TOTALLY different places. The commercial fishermen in Coz work year round and lobster is readily available all the time. I don't see how importing Maine lobster to Cozumel would be economically worthwhile...but what do I know?
