I bought a new Scubapro MK 25/S600 reg. I used to have a Posiedon cyklon 5000 metal.

The SP breathes a lot better than the Poseidn, but unfortunately not as reliable. After 15 dives I got a leak in the first stage. The dive shop fixed and then it happened again 10 dives later... a loud whistling noise. I returned to the dive shop and demaned a brand new 1st stage. I got it and the first time I dove with it I got a loud whistling noise anytime I pressed the inflator hose on the BCD or purged the second stage.

I am frustrated to say the least and don't know what to do. I always thought SP regs were top notch?!!

Any advice? Should I get a refund and go back to Poseidon reg. I don't have any shops who sell Apeks were I live, since I heard these were good regs too.

My Breathes absolutely *****n', you need to call SCUBAPro, and demand they do something about it. SCUBAPro makes awesome/excellent regulators. Unfortunately Murphy's law nailed you on this one.

You don't need to go to an Apeks, they are good, but you have a great equal, just get it straightened out with them. Once they hook you up you will not be disappointed..

See what they recommend. If they don't give you a real warm feeling that staying with them and Scubapro is the right choice, go for the refund and look for a new dive shop. The Scubapro Mk20/25 is a well established high performance design (I have 3 Mk20's) but if you are not confident in what you are diving, you need a change. With the price you probably paid for this, you should not have to put up with this type problem and anything less than first class service.

I have two sets and they both are great. I bought one from Diveinn.com and the other from an LDS. I had heard from the LDS that the mail order ones from Europe were inferior and I wanted to do a comparison. I took the European Mail Order reg to my LDS for an inspection and he didn't realize he was testing a different reg than the one he sold me!

Needless to say my LDS was not being exactly honest with me.

Have a mk25/600 about 35 dives on it flawless performance everytime. max

The MK20 & MK 25 have been having some problems due to a new O-ring that SP started using this Spring. Intended to make the rig perform even better in cold water, it's been a problem in warm water. I had one blow out last March and it was more excitement than I care to repeat.

Basically, the material is too soft and it deflects too much. It's my understanding that SP quickly discontinued the new rings (too many complaints) but their are undoubtably a mess of them floating around the system. Your LDS may not be aware...

I'd have the LDS call SP to check if this is the problem. They make terrific toys and they're good about standing behind them.

Thanks for the advice. I think your comment about the o-ring could be the reason becuase I dive in tropical weather. I will check this out with the LDS.

Probably.

I have this combination, have ~30 dives on it now, and its been flawless. Feels like breathing on the surface when at 100'.

I love it.

I got the same set-up back last Oct and have logged 60+ dives with no problems.... It breaths just as good as I do if front of my computer. You did get one of the best built Reg's, I am sure if you let ScubaPro know or you LDS they will fix the problem.

Rich :mean:

I've never had any problems with my MK25/S600...even while using the barrel o-ring that they discontinued. Never had any performace issues...ever. I would give ScubaPro a call and see what they say.
