................. "Wee Bonney Lad" ........

Let's not get personal about my wee .... oops, wrong board....!

ROFLMAO,

Well that falls in line with whats under a Scotsmans kilt!!!!!

Boy have we digressed.................

STICK THE ROUND WIRE LOOP IN BRASS PIN!!!!

BTW, what's a "Pom"?

It should actally be a POHM.
Prisoner Of Her Majesty,

Or in present day language, " A bloody Brit!!!" ( one who originates from England).

Aussies have also been known as POHM's, but seeing as we are nothing but a bunch of bloody convicts, sent to a a big island by the british government, we tend to seperate ourselves from "her Majesty"

Okay, I got it. Thanks!

I have one of these on my Nighthawk.

I'm going to be removing it, but not because I don't like it. I DO like it.

I'm removing (and selling) it, and the coupler on the LP hose that it is attached to (yes, it comes off - something your regular inflator connector does NOT on ITS hose!) because I got a BP + wing and that setup just won't work reasonably with ANOTHER Air2, so I am forced into the Backup/Octo reg.

Do I particularly LIKE being pushed in this direction? No. I like the Air2. Really.

Let's go down the list.

1. It breathes well. Yes, it really does. Even at 100'.

2. Its out of the way, and doesn't get filled with crud. Its on the inflator - you know EXACTLY where it is.

3. It is a COMPLETELY SEPARATE mechanism from the inflator. It shares its connection, but nothing more.

4. You CAN breathe the inflator by pressing both buttons IF the Air2 dies. You can also breathe it if it freeflows, just like any other reg.

So what's the deal? If you're doing a necklaced backup then you're ALREADY donating the primary. What's the big deal about using an Air2 in that case?

I just don't see the complaint.

Let me think. How about a stuck inflator during an OOA ascent on one of these things. If you disconnect, there goes your air supply. If you don't, you both are going to the surface rather quickly. Detroit Diver is correct about these. They are poorly thought out pieces of equipment. The one less hose argument does not cut it.

Yes,
I'm curious how a respected name in scuba gear, by everyone, including DIR folks, would find anyhting from Scubapro 'crap.' I don't think I've seen ANYTHING from Scubapro that could be deemed as 'crap' - whether one likes a integrated octo or not.

Enlighten me?

Is the quality poor?

Is the design poor?

Does it breathe poorly?

detroit diver, I have a Scubapro Air2 and absolutely love it. It breaths much easier at depth than any standard octo I have used before. I also like it because I always know right where it is (if you're wearing one around your neck, then I guess you have the same benefit). In fact, I just ordered my wife an Air2 today, to go with her new Scubapro Classic BCD.

However, given that I am extremely concerned about my wife's safety (more so than mine), and that an experienced diver has called them crap and junk, I want to learn more. I must assume by such a strong opinion that you have owned and used Air2's, and that you have extensive experience using them.

Could you be more specific? What didn't you like about using an Air2? Again, I am assuming that you have had failures or serious problems that would justify the use of such strong opinions.
