I bought my reg about a year ago and now I'm getting ready to take it for annual servicing...as long as I choose a Genesis authorized dealer/shop for the servicing does it matter which shop I choose for the service? I've read some stuff on here about shops making mistakes during the servicing, or being sloppy. Is that very common? thanks in advance

Well, that's a very opened ended question . . .
Don't take it to any of those bad shops!
The only way you can know which shops are preferable is to query those divers in your geographical area as to the shops that they've used for annual service.

As far as the warranty is concerned, it shouldn't matter. Ethically, to me at least, this is on par with using a LDS as a fitting room for your internet purchases. Some shops portray service as a lost leader they provide for the convienience of their customers. If the servicing LDS didn't sell it to you, what financial incentive are you offering them, at least to entice them to do a good job?

That they're being paid for the work? (That they're being paid by the manufacturer rather than the end user shouldn't really make a difference, should it now?)

(Or does your local shop have a sign that says:
reg service.........:$30/stage
good reg service...:$45/stage
?)

I don't see what the ethical problem is about using a different shop for the servicing from where you bought it. If someone moves to a different part of the country from their old LDS what are they supposed to do for servicing?
