I get the feeling that somewhere within your posts lies some real knowledge. Now, if only I could find a method of extraction.

I know that you believe you understand what you think he said, but I’m not sure you realize that what you heard is not what he meant.

SP 3.5 is good but the only interchangeable part is the seat cap, however the seat is flat.
Piston dia is smaller, and shorter than the 7 but bigger than the 5. Spring is tiny.

Not exactly sure what you mean, but the MK7 and MK5 use the same piston and spring and seat. The original seats for those regs were flat. The MK7 is basically a MK5 with the honking feature.

Thanks all.
I am pretty sure it's a White Stage Dreadnaught from what I have seen. As it is (well before I dissambled it :) ) the IP was fairly unstable, started at 100 psi and crept to around 130 at first but seemed to settle at 120 after a few cycles. I am betting a new set of Orings and it will be rock solid. Project for this week. Any more info would be nice if anyone has it.

Good call halocline. Thanks.

Replace numeral 5 piston with numeral 10 piston.

Just goes to show that I should stop pretending to know with a dozen regs in bits in front of me.
I think some Mk7s or perhaps later models came out with cone seats but I really wouldn't have a clue. I have a couple of Mk7s that seemed un-opened with both seats

The spring on my weird reg is very narrow. Looks weird.

I am now contemplating opening a first model unopened Mk5 and a last model to compare pistons for slight variation but need to find something first to stem the flow of blood. Maybe swap out the 45yo O rings as well. All the other rubber is mint. Dive it? Don't dive it? Dive it.

Who's up for No1 tester if I can get them back together?

couv must be multi lingual.

Cheers.

Very good.

Hello, have gone through various mags/manuals and the only reg that comes close is the white stag " super stag sealung" 3000/5000 models plus there is an add on ebay at the moment under vintage regs of the same shape. Skin diver mag ran an artical july 1971 about the use of octopus regs which sportsways went with after seeing the concept in the Mediterrnean back in 1965, maybe white stag was dipping a toe in the water earlier. The 5000 sea lung had been presented again in skin diver in theJanuary 1970 issue so just maybe in your hands have a proto type or limited issue Regards regulatorbj

once its sorted and working let us know how it breathes ...

Without the second stage I can only guess which model it was. The first stage design seems to have been used with several different White Stag models including the Dreadnaught.

I finally got the IP stable, new Orings and a little polishing of the the piston and HP seat fixed the problems. It should work as well as any piston reg, I did not get the original second stage with it so I can only guess how well it worked, very similar of other seconds of the day I would suspect.

Well Ive only seen about a dozen over the years that I can remember and they all had Sea Pro USA on the purge button even with the second body the same as a SP 108 and the same exhaust T and I used the locking rings from one on a rechromed 109 and the first has a cover that fits a SP Mk7 and I've used it in cold water and it has a Scubapro seat inside and there was a sea pro as I describe on ebay recently so despite the hotch potch of subsidiaries and same part use amongst the brands and sea pro which was probably just a couple of guys in California wanted to put some stuff together and sell that didn't last for long must seem very foreign considering the same happens today.

So it must be a Tajfun from the Czech Republic.
