My first ice dives

Just completed my PADI Ice Diver training here in Nova Scotia, Canada! We had an excellent instructor with Torpedo Ray's Scuba who taught us cold water equipment maintenance, proper tethering and signaling techniques, and went through several rescue scenarios. Some pictures attached.

Hey Nick (assuming you are the Nick I know from the shop). Didn't know you joined the Board. I'd do the ice thing if we didn't usually spend part of winter in Florida--and if I had a drysuit of course.

Yes it was very dark and full of tanins! This was just for training purposes, there are certainly nicer areas to ice dive

Hi TMHeimer, I'm not sure we know each other but there are definitely a few Nicks that frequent T-Rays. Florida sounds nice about now, I'll have to get diving down there someday

That's really cool, no pun intended. For some reason I thought that any algae greening the water would have died or at least gone dormant if the water was cold enough to freeze on the surface. Interesting!

Yes the lake was Lake William in Waverley which is close to Dartmouth
