I thought that Long Beach was an OC transitional zone... I feel like I'm leaving SoCal whenever I cross that second bridge out of Pedro... Anywhere where it is easier to pick up an OC Weekly than an LA Weekly has some problems...

Are we begging for the geography lesson, or what?

Don't pay any attention to Ken's geography lesson. Just smile and nod! :54: He actually thinks that Long Beach is part of Los Angeles

LB is part of So Cal, as its North of the 605. I've gone through this a thousand times, haven't you people been paying attention??!!

Seizure World and that whole Cypress - Bolsa corridor is the no-mans-land transition you're thinking about. They think they're in So Cal, but they have that cursed 714 area code that immediately disqualifies them... :D

Class in session.

You going to love it on the best coast.

SDUE is another group in San Deigo---- They Dive all the time and they can show you the type of gear you should consider--- In regaurds to the type of suit- Dry is the way to go--- San D is typically colder because of the uplift of cold water from the canyon below... Its more money but how much is comfort worth to you - You are comming from a place where the water never drops much below 70-- to a place where the water is typically in the 50's---No brainer to me- Not ragging on wet suits I think they can keep a diver warm (if it fits you right) but for me ---for the amount of diving I do--and for my comfort ---I choose Dry! Ive never met anyone that once they went dry reverted back to wet as a cognitive decision.

Just my 1 1/2 cents

L.B. is part of So Cal, but like I said, L.A. is bad bad bad (and not in a good way) so again, JUST SMILE AND NOD, people and pay no more attention to Ken's twisted geography. :whack:

LA is bad in a GREAT kind of way... Any OC defense is pointless, they are holding a big chunk of our SoCal coastline hostage and must be stopped.

I'm still not convinced about Long Beach, the OC Weekly thing is a pretty big strike against them.

And Ken, wasn't Brian Wilson from Hawthorne, city of good neighbors??

Bad as in rude, crowded, plastic and stinky! We are holding nothing hostage, jealousy is your only argument! :cheeky:
Brian Wilson lives with his mom and he never surfed!

Downey claims him, as does Hawthorne. I dunno. Insert any southbay city here, you know? I'm surprised Lawndale (the gateway to PV) hasn't staked a claim yet!

LA, jealous of OCal? Uh, OK. When I grow up, I wanna be the 55/5 interchange, I wanna be El Toro, errr Lake Forest, errr (insert some other ethnically cleansed name here). LA Plastic and Stinky? You're reaching buddy - OCal is home of the amusement park - can you get any more plastic and stinky than Disneyland or Knotts, or more stinky than Japanese Village & Deer park or Buffalo Park? Jealous? Never.

I need to pole-vault over pity, envy and depression to get to jealousy, and I'm not even past pity for OCal yet.

But enough of the border skirmisk. Lets dive.

thanks guys i appreciate all the welcomes, hmm i am pretty thankful i am not there yet, I will be there in august probably. hmm it appears I may need to get a hood and a new wetsuit. I can't get the wetsuit down here though cause ya know if you dive with a 7 in hawaii it is going to be miserable. I can't believe you guys only get 10 foot vis, man I have been spoiled, I get upset if the vis is less than 20. Regardless though I am an addict and i love to dive and I will dive in whatever water, wherever it may be, as long as I get my compressed air under the sea.

And Ken(I know this is going to dismay a lot of you but haha I gotta hear this) don't implode and spill the geography lesson, haha if i get bored I can uhm just go look at other uhm websites or actually do work since I am there.

When OCal types evacuate, they go north to So Cal. Duh. Wouldn't you?

LB is just taking their money with an OCal rag, as they pass thru. Its smart enterprise. Think the LA Weekly is available in HB? No way. They're not that bright in OCal.

im going to stay out of this geography war here and go with the hey when i come up in august who wants to dive? I don't care where, I do care a bit about comfort, I am not sure about the whole drysuit thing, I just wouldn't feel right in a drysuit, well maybe I guess it depends on where I will want to dive. I am hoping my tenure in Cali will be short (three years of law school) with summers and winters spent diving in hawaii. in fact after I get up there maybe we can plan a winter drop down into my home of oahu and do the dives where i got baptized.
