If the deed you are talking about is the one that mike_s posted a good link to. The Smiths did not buy anything. They sold the property.

Grantor means seller
Grantee means buyer

And I'm very familiar with all the local government resources. I was a staff attorney for Walton County for 3 1/2 years.

DOCKERY D J & RUTH seem to own a TON of property in that area. Their address is one digit off the Vortex address, so I'm betting they are the folks that live in that large house on the east side of the spring.

Well anyone who's been there can vouch for that :) He's also the dive flag inventor dude and used to be a Navy diver. Never took a crap at Vortex? All this stuff is posted in the ****ter! :D LOL

I often wondered why he chose that spot (the crapper) to post this acheivement of his...

Here is the parcel for Vortex property.
http://qpublic.net/cgi-bin/holmes_display.cgi?KEY=1809.00-000-000-009.000&

Tax assessed value appears to be $766,927 (now this is not a "comparable sale" appraisal which is what a lender would require. which could be a completely different appraised amount).

this also could be only one parcel. For example some of the structures/houses/land could be on a seperate but ajoining parcel.

I noticed Google Maps has a nice "high res" pic up of Vortex that is pretty recent. A few months back the pic was very blury. However, there is a cloud smack dab on top of the main spring area in the pic.

I noticed that a few weeks ago (or whever it was) when they finally got high-res data on the area (Morrison was also in the narrow lane of blurry, IIRC). Of course, now I have to wonder... was it a conspiracy to hide any Vortexian changes? :D

This is not the parcel that was sold. So the sale must still be pending or there is some type of transition going on that will end with a sale.

Yeah.. Morrison looks much better also. If you follow the spring run down, it's apparant where the water turns 'tanic' to river water mix too by the coloration.

I guess that kinda explains the "3 year transistion" they mentioned on the phone.

They said "the paperwork was all signed" but it would be transisitioned over 3 years. I'm sure there is some "good ole boy" dealings in part of it and might even include rights to a new puppy off one of them's prized hunting dog as a deal sealer. After the deal was sealed, I'm sure they popped open some cold "PBR" to consummate it.

I know a while back Doc bid 2 mil on the Grotto and was turned down, the owner wanted 3 mil. Maybe they came to a deal and Doc wants to move.

BG is boring :p Vortex actually has more to look at than that place....
