So, Ive been thinking about the webcam project, and found this camera, which I think would be perfect. Solar powered, uploads via cell phone. So, Im going to get some info on price, and contact the state and county to see whether theyd be interesed in funding or just allowing this. Thoughts?

I think this would be an interesting thing to use to see what the water levels are at via the cam. A water gauge would be great too, if you could put that on the same website. (of course the water gauge at Caryville already is a good reference ).

Good person to start with on contacting the county is Chris Mitchell. He's the Walton County public information officer. (850) 892-8155 mitchris@co.walton.fl.us

He's the one that sent out all the updates on when the springs would be re-opening and has answered emails in the past.

You might get them to host it on the county website page for Morrison Springs.

I think that PCB DownUnder runs this website. It might be a good place to host it also. Morrison Springs Florida

I'd also talk to Sea Yoda and see what his thoughts were. I think he was on the volunteer board/committee that met to give suggestions on what to include with the renovation of the park. He might be a good resource also and know some people to contact in regards to it. That and he dives the place regularly (like many down there do).

Hope that helps some...

Yep, I emailed the Walton county parks guy and he said hes ok with this. Im also looking at doing water quality testing, as wakulla dive club is already working on this in Wakulla.

As to why this is needed, its not. It would simply be for entertainment and information.

I think its a good idea, the water quality kit is something that the WCDC plans on using all over the area - not just in Wakulla. The cam could be quite entertaining in the summer months.

Especially if the camera is a pan-tilt-zoom :) :D
