I did my OWD there, really nice. Would love to go there.
We had our tanks filled at Monterey Bay Scuba. This made a good impression back then.
Good luck to manage it today!
But not sure if buying used gear in the usa is smart, if you are just there at vacation and will go back to europe.

Here's your Thursday forecast:

SE wind 15 to 20 kt, becoming S 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 35 kt in the afternoon. Seas 9 to 12 ft. Wave detail: S 7 ft at 9 seconds and W 9 ft at 13 seconds. A chance of rain.

The only part of this that looks right for Monterey diving is the southerly wind direction- that's straight offshore at the breakwater and would be ok even up to 20 kt. But probably not 35 kt. The rest of that forecast makes it look like a great day to spend inside at the Aquarium :)

I'm shooting for Sunday as the next day worth diving (if I can find a buddy who doesn't mind it cold and rainy on the surface and they haven't shut down the beaches for storm runoff pollution)

Check out Surfline.com, for Monterey sites.

San Carlos Beach, aka “The Breakwater” is currently 0-1 foot — and forecast to be much the same through tomorrow.

There is a live feed from Adventuresbythesea.com, if you’d rather not have irritating ads.

Having recently returned from both Carmel and Monterey this morning, it was only a charitable 2, maybe 3 meters of visibility, if that, over the sand; less along the wall -- and with a potent storm in the forecast . . .

I'm sure one of your regular/known quantity buddies will oblige, but I'm up for diving on Sunday assuming only mildly toxic run-off.

I'm originally from the UK so if rain stopped me doing anything, I would have been tragically unfamiliar with the great outdoors. I dive wet anyway, so what's a little more moisture :) Also Ma used to say rain was good for the complexion...and you didn't argue with her if you knew what was good for you!

@jowe I’m always up for diving with new people. DM me if you want to connect & see if it’s worth going over the weekend
