I have 3 sets of MK10/G250's not the +model. How do you guys feel about this set up. I know G250 is the bomb but I want to really hear what your opinions are on the MK10's??????? How would you feel about going deep or cave diving with these guys. Use them beyond the REC use and into TEC uses???

Is "the bomb" good or bad? IMHO, you would be hard pressed to find better regulators although I slightly prefer the even older Mk5 with metal cased 2nds.

HAHA sorry "BOMB" meaning good or great I just LOVE the G250

Only regulator I dive with. I've had several of them for many years.

I used to routinely dive to 18-200 ft on air with no breathing problems (I'm a much "shallower" guy today). On an extended (6 week) trip to work in Belize, I had a Mk10 that whistled when I breathed. It delivered air fine but I was worried about the sound so I took it in for servicing. Turned out there were two 3/8" cracks in the core beneath the LP plugs. I had purchased it off E-Bay and hadn't tested it before I went on the trip.

I'd go just about anywhere in a cave with that combo.

I bought the MK17/G250V combo and love it, but I chose the MK17 for cold water reasons. Can't speak about the MK10 sorry.

Dr. Bill…..the bomb must have caused that crack. J I remember the thread where you posted pictures, but if I recall correctly the crack was in a hp port, probably caused by some twit who screwed a bolt or tool into it too deep.

The MK 10 is still my favorite 1st stage regulator and the G250 bomb is a pretty good imitation of a real regulator (one made of metal)-the Balanced Adjustable.

My doubles set up (for cavern/eventually cave) is a pair of MK10s, both packed with tribolube, with a D300 and a balanced/adjustable for 2nds. I do have a G250, haven't used it in a while...hmmm, maybe I'll give it another go.

Anyhow, MK10s can do anything we can do. If you want freeze-proof, just pack the ambient chamber, find a SPEC boot, and off you go. Don't forget that divers used to do extreme dives with very basic regs and they worked fine.

I've done the vast majority of my diving with a Mk10. I've used a G250/BA/R109/G200B/D350/D400 with it.

There are some subtle differences between the Mk10 and Mk5, but for the most part they are about the same. They are my favorite 1st stages to dive with in almost every situation. The lone exception is in extremely silty water, I'll use a sherwood first stage just to avoid the clean-up.

Mk 10s anywhere everywhere for 20 years, up down sideways.
The grease filled ones have the Zang Tzin pushbike tube spec ring.
I just checked.
The current second for general purpose is ATX50 because the G250s have worn poppets as have the G200Bs, who needs a knob, which I primarily use, and my parts list is either to big or to small at the moment to bother Daniel with a list and it's Christmas.
Merry Festivus.

I have a Mk10 doubles set up but I can't remember what the seconds are.
