There is an alternate way to tie the cave knot that is looser... Joel at TDL tied a boltsnap onto the SPG I bought from him that way, and I've copied it once or twice since. Although now that think about it, that would let the snap wander up and down the cable, since it's looser... Oh well, I guess we're back to "we'll see"!

I've also seen the cave line tied to the swivel connector of the SPG hose, rather than the neck of the gauge.

For the purposes of the low-pressure miflex though, I haven't yet seen a boltsnap tied to anything other than the rubber part of the hose on a primary regulator.

I'm waiting for someone to come onto this thread and proclaim that these hoses are:

1. A possible failure point.
2. A solution looking for a problem.
3. Replacing skill with technology/gadgetry.

Any takers? :D

We have to wait for someone to actually buy the hoses before we can call that person an idiot. Seems only fair!

:eyebrow:

As I have said before, I have used a full set of these hoses since they were first launched in the UK as part of a long-term test, and I can confirm that they aren't 'floaty' at all.

If you are in the market for a new hose/set of hoses, they are well worth considering for their lightness, flexibility and durability - mine still look as good as new after many dives. It isn't a case of a 'solution looking for a problem', they just offer a viable alternative to traditional rubber hoses, albeit at a price.

Oh, and while they don't have any plans for a Poseidon fitting (at the moment), they do a 1/2" fitting already - I have one as my primary Apeks ATX200 hose.

There. I've put in my order. I want to see how a Miflex hose does on my pony. The way I have it, a rubber hose sits perfectly, but there's quite a bit of tension in the hose on deployment. Theoretically, a Miflex hose should make it *much* more comfortable when using the pony reg on a stage.

(It seemed like the perfect test.)

That should be an interesting test. I wonder if the hose's slippery fabric cover will make it hard to keep in one place on the tank, compared the relatively grippy rubber hoses? Should make deployment a dream, though.

I just ordered a full singles kit (7' primary, 22" secondary, 22" for my Mach V wing, and 32" for my drysuit), so this should be interesting...

Any update on the HP version of the MiFlex hose?
