I've been on some sucky LOBs, but the diving was the only thing important. If you have a safe dive program on good dive sites, enough palatable food, a dry bunk, a working head, and cold Bintangs, everything else is just an inconvenience.

Of course I am mostly kidding (and I hope others are, too). But it can, and does, make a big difference if you meet a few people you can pal around with for the 16 days. If you don't meet anyone sympatico, it kinda sux.

I don't think Komba is erupting anymore @dirtfarmer ...:(

Oh well I'll take that off my bucket list.
It's just that I think that surfacing from a night dive there and seeing lava flying thru the air would be a pretty special experience. Or just seeing lava flying thru the air would be epic.

Bill you should have a great trip! So many chances at epic dives. Hopefully you have good luck with the Hammerheads.

In diving around Indo these past few months, it seems like the water is too warm so the big stuff is staying down.

That's why I delay my trip to Banda Sea to next November to see the schooling hammerheads, instead of this year.

Warming waters aside. The 2016 fall season has been a banner year for, schooling hammerheads in the Banda Sea. Happy sailing in December.

WHOA! Didn't know that! And I was just in Banda, they kept saying that the water was too warm so don't expect to see sharks.

Maybe the trip WILL be OK, even with a Russian spy as a roommate, using a sink as a toilet, and no beer. :-)

No beer? I remember Mermaid 1 had plenty of them while I was there 2 years ago.

With the president-elect Trump being a "good" buddy of Putin, now, I guess you will be "safe" with her. For me it ain't gonna happen. My GF won't let me get away with sharing cabin with a female.
