I know this thread has gotten way to big now so there is a lot of wondering and other things going on which has all been mentioned throughout the thread. So I will re-hash some of them here to hopefully answer questions you may have or missed.
Myself and Cldwdiver plus three not known to this group will be there between 10 and 11 am Friday. we will be there until sunday Afternoon sometime.
we will be all the way to the end of the road You cant miss us the bunk house and a Wrecking crew sign will be up.
Gilboa is HUGE there will be plenty of Tent camping We are there during off season so we should have run of the place. the earlier you get there the closer you can set up your tent to the main gathering area then they just spread out down the road from there.
Food and amounts of it have never been an issue just bring the amount you normally would for a family gathering pot luck. We always have enough leftovers to feed a large 3rd world country.
Diving,, it happens all day and into the night. People are always gearing up and ungearing dont fret about finding someone to dive with. There will be people there of all dive levels from 0 dives to 1000 dives and each and every one of them will dive with the other, were not picky or choosy who we dive with. 1 rule even though it is usually not a problem if you chose to start on adult beverages Your done diving for the day. There will be plenty of time for adult beverage drinking and bottle melting later in the evening.
Dive gear. There is always extra so dont fret if your missing something or if you even want to try something else. We share and dont mind it. Just feel free to ask. If you need dry gloves installed that the easter bunny left you. Our own dry glove specialist Mitten Diver will be there to help you with them.
Wood,, Diver Brian has arranged for that situation. Problem is solved. Maybe a donation to him to help out plus he could probably use the money to help make the payment on new divemobile. Or that rebreather we all know he has got a down payment on.
Several of us are veterans of meet n greets you know who we are. Were the ones not in a panic right now. It has always gone off with out a hitch and the weather gods has always blessed us with supurbed weather. Im sure it will be the same this year. This is supposed to be a fun time and it always is. so relax pack up the dive gear and get ready to meet and line up some new dive buddies for the upcoming season. I will be trying to get a weekend lined up during this event for a weekend of wreck diving in Alpena. It was mentioned by diver paula last year for me to do this. Plus I would like to get a couple of Saturday dives out of Port Sanilac with our good buddy Gary Venet. before the dive shops book him up for the summer.
everyone take a deep breath of 36% ean and get ready for a time you wont forget just a week and a half left of waiting.
oh yeah rule #2 what happens at meet n greet stays at meet n greet. That one is fun because you can drop hints about it later in the GLWC forum and those that chose not to join us will always wonder what they missed or what were talking about. It encourages participation in the next one.
