Looks like we'll miss you by a couple of weeks. We'll be in Kaanapali from April 1-6 for a quick trip this spring.
For eateries, find Boston Pizza on front street in Lahaina (they can be hard to find). Very reasonable prices, a good view of the water from their 2nd floor location, and excellent food! Moose McGillicuddy's is decent and always has a really good special going on for a reasonable price. Bubba Gump shrimp is always good, and Cheeseburger in Paradise always has a good hamburger. The Hardrock is overpriced IMO, and the atmosphere is the same you can get at any Hardrock. Lahaina Fish Co. is excellent for seafood, and a little classier than the others I mentioned. There used to be a great Mexican place in one of the little malls on Front (near the Banyan tree), but we heard they were closing. Tim, do you know?
Just remember to pick up all the coupon books and browse through for deals. You can find these everywhere, but we usually pick them up at the airport while waiting for our bags.
Dive op recommendations depend on how far you're willing to travel. I have to agree with Tim (above) about Ed Robinson's, Mike Severns, and B&B being the best out of Kihei, but we prefer to go with Lahaina Divers to Lanai instead of Extended Horizons. We prefer the roomier boats, and will suck up the potential of more divers for the elbow room they offer. The one time we dove with Extended Horizons, we found the boat to feel crowded with a full load of 12 divers. To us, the Lahaina Divers 46' Newtons don't feel crowded with a full load of divers since there are lots of alternative places to stand or sit....but that's purely a personal preference on our part. We've also rarely had a full boat with them on a morning charter since they only take the Discover Scuba people on their afternoon charters, so we rarely do afternoon charters anymore.
Hope this helps.
