A good place to rent gear on the Lahaina side is Aloha Maui Diving and Westside Air (same place); Closed on Sundays. Check as their hours can very. Contact: (808) 495-9559; 130 Kupuohi St D4, Lahaina, HI 96761. This shop is terrific! They never give grief about solo diving, and they have free weights they will rent. Many will only rent integrated weights.

Really nice folks. They do a special if you rent 10 tanks in advance, an electronic card.

Hi again! I realized I never circled back on this after our trip. We ended up using Maui Diving Center and they were excellent. It's a woman-owned dive shop (which I tend to love) and our guide, whose name I can't remember this long afterward, was firm, polite, and kept a close eye on my 12 year old. We ended up unable to dive Mala due to conditions, but that's obviously not the dive op's fault. Overall, good equipment and personnel, and a great way to support one of the few dive shops in West Maui that made it out of the fires. Recommended.
