Looking for someone who has dived the wrecks at Matagorda Island Liberty Ship Reef. Need info on dive site and transportation to & from the dive site.

I have never dove the Matagorda liberty ships but have heard they are broken up.
The site is about 17 miles ESE of Port Aransas so I would check with some dive shops or boats in that area.

Thanks for the replys. I was at the PADI 2011 Forum in Dallas last week and asked around. Have yet to find anyone that has been diving there. Should be in blue water that far out. Texas Parks and Wildlife tout it as a great spot with lots of marine life.

That is the Mustang Island Liberty Ship.

Matagorda is 61 miles ENE of Port A, and 25 miles SE of the Matagorda jetties. So kinda hard to get to.

See "map" for layout of the site =>

I have specific coordinates if you like too.

Chris

I always remember the water clearing at 20ish miles, and clearing up extremely blue around 30 or so. I'd contact the Orion charter boat, I'm sure Mike's made a run or two out there if it's outside Port A.
