I tend to like the larger area feeling. So I have clear skirts and like my regular glasses to be a bit larger than is the current fashion. But also I like an aisle seat on the plane and prefer not to have the hemmed in feeling of a middle seat although I can sit anywhere. Given a preference I will go clear. Its like being outside. You do not see all the sunlit area around you but your peripheral vision makes you aware of it.

If you go with a low-volume, frameless mask (like the Atomic) mask skirt color is virtually immaterial... since you can't really see the skirt anyway.

A mask with poor field of vision will feel less closed-in with a clear skirt vs. a black skirt. And downward visibility is important because most of your gear is located down. Worry more about the field of vision instead of skirt color.
