Well, my wife is in Manila with her family right now, and I'm going to join her next week. We'll be hitting Puerto Galera on March 24th, and staying until April 2. Sounds like the party has already started, :D but there's so many long threads I haven't kept track of what's going on.

Dang, I just saw that I'll miss DOR III by a few days... :sad_2:

So will anyone have any energy left for some diving/partying in PG or Anilao the last week in March? We'll be staying at Deep Blue Sea, diving with Action Divers.
awww man... that's too bad... yup, looks like it's gonna be one mother of a party

well the other guys should be piping in later or tomorrow... there should be a group getting wet when you are

Does it figure that my friend Jim is going to miss the DOR?

Jim, what's with your timing. It sounds like people from all over the world will be there for the DOR and you'll be a week late.

Dude! What's up with that?

I think I remember him telling me that he's been to the PI a few times and has never been able to dive because of he weather.

You guys take care of my buddy Jim and show him a good time. Let me know if you think he's pasaway. :D

Dunno. I posted way back in December, then again early Feb. with the dates I'd be there, hoping we might get a DOR scheduled for sometime in those two weeks. Guess everyone decided on a different date. Such is life. :D

Well guys, it's getting down to the wire, and I'm leaving for Manila in a few days. Since I still haven't seen any real sparks of interest or commitments from anyone to get together while I'm there, I finally had to relent and make other plans for next weekend. :sad_2: Looks like we'll be getting together with my wife's family doing non-diving stuff. :sad_2: :sad_2:

Gotta say I'm hugely disappointed, and have REALLY been looking forward since December to meeting you guys, exploring Anilao, sharing some San Miguels, and having a blast. But I understand how work and other commitments can get in the way.

I would still like to try a day trip during the week to Anilao. Can anyone recommend a good dive op in the area, and how to get there from PG? And are there any good shore diving sites in Anilao? Whatever help you can give would be greatly appreciated, since it's our first time there and we're pretty much clueless. Thanks.

Hey Jim,

Most of these guys are out at the DOR and won't be on the Internet 'til tomorrow or the next day.

If you think about the way people from out of town usually get together with us in SoCal, all of the definite plans are usually made in the last week before they arrive.

Also, the PPD does not have set schedule of dives that visitors from out of town can count on yet. So you have less control over that than people do when they come to SoCal. As far as I know, SoCal is the only place on ScubaBoard where we have a set schedule of beach dives and boat dives every other weekend. So, it's easier for people visiting from other regions to plan those into their visits way ahead of time.

That said, I bet that you will get many offers during this week before you arrive. Lot's of those people would probably get together with you on the weekend you are there also. If you think back, that's exactly what used to happen in SoCal before we started planning our Wrinkles and Mo2vation dives for an entire year.

I'm sure that there will be many helpful people in the PPD that help you to finally discover diving in the PI. I can't imagine that this would be another trip to the PI that you don't get to dive on. You've been there too many times now without diving and I hear it's a great place to dive. We have to break your non-diving streak in the PI!
