Well, I'm not out there.
And it's been pointed out to me that I'm not female.
but I can't help but think that you may get better response if you tell a bit more about your plan.

Where are you from?
Have you much experience?
What is your itenerary?
What are some of your expectations?
What kind of buddy are you hoping for?

I could hook you up with my grandma, but she only has 8 dives, and she's an air hog. -N

Very funny nannymouse and thanks for your suggestion.

From Edmonton, AB, Canada, currently in Victoria BC
Experience approx 50 dives
Just vacationing and I don't have my own gear so I'll be going through a shop, charter, 2 tanks per day everyday Oct 11-17.
Hoping for a female diver that is also looking to explore the area and dive everyday. I'm 27, don't mind grandmas but don't like air hogs.

HappyDiving, if you are going out on either of the dive boats (King Neptune or Scuba Cat) they will pair you up with a buddy. This time of year the boats rarely go out every day so I hope you've already checked. We don't get a lot of single divers coming out here mid-week, although on weekends you might find one at the dive park.

I'm probably off island the first weekend (and am not female). However, if you see the Dr. Bill Mobile (golf cart) at the dive park, please feel free to introduce yourself and ask any questions.

Last time I checked, I'm not female either... :shocked2:

There are a lot of females in SoCal that dive a lot. Also, try posting in the Beach Crabs sub-forum... Beach Crabs have weekly/monthly events that you can participate in (off island)...

All day Oct. 11 and the morning of Oct. 12, I'll be diving Casino Point with my girlfriend. Last I checked she's female. :) We have a very friendly coed group of 9 (3 women and 6 guys) from San Diego that's descending on Avalon for the weekend. Of the 9, 3 are DM's, 1 is an AI, and 1 is OWSI...all but one is rescue trained. What's our dive style? We like to take our time looking for small stuff in the rocky reef. One of the guys likes to take video of his buddy getting wrapped up in kelp. (Just kidding.) There'll be at least 3 photographers in the group, so buddy teams will be going reeeeeally slowly. With such a large group, we'll probably just enter the water together...and not try to maintain a conga-line through the kelp. Many will be diving dry. I suspect most will be using a HP100 tank from home. Here's a representative dive profile on a past dive to the Sue-Jac in the UW Park:

You're more than welcome to accompany us on a day dive. If our diving styles are compatible, we can definitely do more together. The only stipulation would be that you join us for a very serious post-dive briefing at Big Olaf's Ice Cream shop. You'll get bonus points for taking a creative picture with the friendly buffalo outside.

Just curious. Is there any particular reason why your dive buddy needs to be female? If it's because female divers are superior beings with a sixth sense for danger, zero ego, and smell better during surface intervals...well...then I agree.

Here's a link to a Flickr photostream of my first trip to the Casino Point UW Park. It might give you an idea of what you'll see underwater.

WOW thank you for the suggestions and warm welcome! Bubbletrubble you folks sound like a great group to dive with. The reason why I am looking for a female dive buddy, other than all the above wonderful things you mentioned about us :) is because I'm looking for a girl to share accommodations with. Much easier and safer with a stranger girl than a stranger guy. Your group's dive style sounds fantastic but I have the trouble of not having anyone to stay with and the island is expensive. Would the 3 women consider having a 4th in the group to share room(s) with? I'll pay my share of course and possibly lower the cost of a hotel room! No worries if they are uncomfortable with it, I completely understand that I am a stranger to you all!

Oh. I understand where you're coming from regarding accommodations. I don't blame you for wanting a female roommate. Unfortunately, our rooms are full. Since the 3 females are not "single," they'll be sharing rooms with their boyfriends/husbands.

One thing you have working in your favor is that hotel rooms are quite cheap ($60-$80/night) in the middle of the week. They can be half as expensive as on the weekend.

I would recommend looking into the Hotel Atwater, Hermosa Hotel, and the Buena Vista. Call them up and ask for their best rates.

Let me know if you would still like to dive with us...

Thank You dpbishop Thank You bubbletrubble! I am on a tight budget so while the suggestions are the least expensive on the island it is still unaffordable for me right now. That's ok there will be another time when accommodations and people all work out! Thank you for being so kind!!
