Looking for a reg

New to diving trying to buy equipment here and there I noticed EU sites are cheaper, did some research and found legit ones. But my question is on the DIN ones are they compatible with US tanks ? Or should I just buy an yoke first stage...

In the US and especially Florida and Carib most rental tanks are yoke. Certainly a DIN can be found and as often the DIN insert is locked in due to the valve having been hit/bent or corroded. Frankly, DIN is a PITA unless really needed for certain types of diving. Otherwise just get a yoke. And then, especially with Scubapro, get the DIN kit for the Mark 25/19/17, same part number and you can use a PITA DIN if you insist or a nice and good yoke!



Easy to switch and both bases are covered. Buy the yoke, get the DIN kit above.

It is hard to find cylinders here without a DIN insert.
I carry a Yoke adapter and have not needed it yet.

I asked many questions before making my decision on unfamiliar operator and tank is one of those.
"Real Benefit"? Apeks DIN reg is tiny bit lighter than Yoke counter-part.

It depends on what kind of diving you are doing. DIN has real benefits, but it depends on where and what kind of diving you are doing to determine if it is worth it. Or, in this case, how much of a premium you are willing to pay for the inferior but locally convenient and good enough yoke.

The truth is that there isn't a 1 size fits all answer to this question.

I personally have 1 reg set in yoke, and 2 in DIN. On any given dive trip, I pick the set(s) that fit the diving I plan to do and the availability of tanks.

Apeks is a diaghphram first stage...you might want to look at the SP Mk19/G260 or Mk17/G260 also the Apeks XTX 200 and add a fifth port if you are diving long hose. As well as some sealed Atomics first stage regs.
Are these for Florida diving/warm water??

Just a heads up, there is a potential for warranty issues doing a grey market import like this. I say potential since might be okay, might not.

The risk isn't unique to scuba, but most grey market importing has the same issue.

Again, I have several DIN regs and tanks. However, outside of tech/cave diving there’s little benefit to the first-time reg buying recreational diver. But, there is the real hassle of trying to make sure you can find DIN tanks. Like you, I keep one yoke reg just for travel when I’m not taking my own tanks.
