The xDeep Black suffers from the same issue. My bottom timer is unusable. It's a shame, as a bottom timer it worked well, had a small footprint, and was easy to navigate. Unfortunately, the "Black" name rings true.

The Perdix is definitely the way to go, or the Teric if you want a smaller form factor.
