I read weather maps just fine and that looks like a mild frontal passage in CZM. The front that went through Houston is already over Atlanta and moving NE now....will make it to NY by morning...
I think that "mild" front reaches from near Greenland to Tabasco state, having closed roads the last two days with snow in Big Bend NP, San Antonio, Alabama, etc. We used to read local signs more before the internet - like smoke not rising, nervous cattle, etc. but whatever. This was not a usual norther when it blew thru Texas. Maybe you city boys need this explained by a hottie in a miniskirt...?

Growing in in South Texas my dad used to send us down the street on our bikes so we could see what the smoke stack from the plant south of town was doing. If the smoke was straight up it was time to head to the Baffin Bay and go fishing.

Aldora DM said we would dive the east side today. Mighty windy here... Hope that is not the case today. Please tell me we get to stay in our jammies this morning.

Yep - port is closed - pretty stiff winds out there!

So have you spotted (positioned) any boats over to Chen Rio?

Dear Gobroke, yes we prepositioned boats at Chen Rio. The predicted NW component of the wind makes the east side very smooth. Right now we have17 divers out for some real treats. But it takes a heck of a lot of work and special equipment to operate off the beach.

Latest Windguru makes even Tuesday questionable for the west side.

From looking and listening to webcams, it looks and sounds pretty windy this (Saturday 12/9) morning. I don't see any boat traffic, either.

For what it's worth, way up North here on Isla Mujeres the dive ops are taking a holiday. So far we are expecting to be diving the East/Southeast parts of the island tomorrow (Sunday). Rumor has it that Ultramar is running today but that is based upon the fact that my next-door neighbor is leaving for Puerto Juarez. Yesterday it was a bit choppy but the vis was still a good 80'.
