Hello All...
I'm looking into a couple of new cannister lights and I'm curious as to what my my NELD homies are using these days.

At this point, I'm torn between a Nocturnal Lights TL50 Extreme and a Greenforce FlexII 10 Watt HID. If you're not familiar, the NL is an overvolted Halogen.

At this time, I'm not doing any penetration dives and I do carry a back up but I am concerned with the ability to signal and good muck cutting ability (if you dive here, you know what I mean) ...and I'd like light up a lobster hole like Fenway Park.

Any recomendations?

Thanks,
Chris

Go with the HID light. I have seen some Green Force lights and they look good but have not heard anything good or bad.

You just can't beat the color spectrum of an HID. All halogens even when over driven will still only have a color temperature of 4000K at most.

Greenforce makes an excellent light.
Giant Stride Dive Shop in Warwick, R.I. had very competative pricing on theirs.
If you are handy, you can try making own.
I have included some pictures of the two I built last winter.
So far I am very happy with them, especially the smaller one.
They are 14.4 v nominal, the larger is 12 Ah, the smaller is 6 Ah,
both useing NIMH batteries.
The head is made useing a cut down Maglite.
Bulbs are available from 10 to 75 w so can get the burn time you want.
