He uses terms like "regulators do not flow enough air" and such. Those are not a terms which a guy well versed in regulators would use. Demand regulators deliver air on demand, meaning that they provide only the amount of air that your lungs need. Unless you are extremely deep to the point that the density of the gas that you are breathing cannot flow through the first stage, you can pretty much use most regulators made in the past ten years in most types of diving. I just do not like the "scare tactics" from someone that divers are going to believe because he has a bunch of qualifications. I'm sure he's a wonderful diver.

I think you hit it on the head when you mentioned that english is not his native tongue. Deutsch...

How do you Slonda828 conclude he does not how a regulator functions? His blog would seem to testify otherwise. I would venture to say 99% of technical instructors are extremely well versed with all facets of dive gear especially regulators. Slow day?

I assume you meant to address this question to me. If you look at an earlier post of mine in this thread you'll see that I pointed out several basic mistakes in this instructor's article about regulators. I know lots of instructors, tech divers, and tech instructors, and many don't know much about the details of regulator function. Why does that surprise you?

Well there you go then. I'm sure he is a super knowledgeable guy, maybe he just lost a little bit in his communication.

Fair comment. I mis-interpreted your post as dog-piling on the OP when the tone of the thread started to turn. I am not the OP's PR person, just wanted to turn some attention to his credentials. It's a good bet that he can effect an underwater rescue and rebuild most regulators at the same time. I would also venture to guess he wtinesses some rigs entering the cave systems that are not particularily thought out for the application. I will let him respond to the open questions from this point on...

Lost in translation dude ... and why do I maintain a blog and post there frequently ? I guess I have seen my share of diving related issues and would have hoped that I had a recourse or someone who might give me a hand in making choices. Its about choices.

Speaking three languanges fluently got me to the point that I do neither of them perfectly, my German sucks by now :)

greetings
Matt
