Slight deviation from „faces of evo“ to „guts of an evo“
Saw this cutaway mk17 yesterday at Boot and thought someone might have some appreciation for it as a stand-in for a crosssextion diagram 😅 (I’ll try to get a better pic today)

It wasn’t even the SP stand, for some reason Polaris had some cutaway models of valves and the mk17

All SP had was white reg pushers, and they had no mk17e (not the 2) in view even 😂

Something interesting I saw at the SP booth was a uniquely not belonging to the pack s620

When I showed excitement about the non splined nut; the reg pusher didn’t even notice what I was referring to, and said that the hose cap is just covering the inlet 🤦🏽‍♀️

I’m not sure if this is just from their show/prototype stack; but I doubt they’ll have non splined ones anytime soon (the other s620 had a splined nut)

:confusing:
is that some sort of anti-tamper - getting rid of the now commonly available SP spline tool to force servicing only at authorized SP service centers?

Or maybe ScubaTools and the like will be selling the new specialized barrel-nut tool to the masses soon ...

No quite the opposite, maybe my picture isn’t the best; it’s a circular profile with 2 opposing flats; so a normal wrench could deal with it, easy

What I thought is more like apple and usb c, „we finally made everyone buy a spline nut tool, time to drop it for the standard everyone else uses“
🤷🏽‍♀️

OK, now I see the subtle line and shading difference! At first look it appeared "featureless" - I was envisioning a 3-jaw chuck or something for the official tool.

ETA: They could be extra clever and have a "hex" nut with opposing 2/6 splined, 2/6 metric, and 2/6 SAE. Then everybody would have the "right" tool. Goofy looking but utilitarian.

I think you just came up with the usbC equivalent, the „universal nut“

I would certainly love to have some on my regs
