Leisure Pro was my worst experience EVER. I would NEVER order from them. I give my LDS all the business..............................
Brilliant, Mr. Dive Shop Owner! You've definitely convinced me to always trust an LDS over Leisure Pro any day!

You always give your LDS all the business, eh? Sounds more like you're trying to give us the business....

And the #1 benefit of buying online...

The owners of Leisurepro won't show up at the your local dive site to drop rocks on your head!

I may be a newbie, but I don't care how long you've been diving. It's not going to save you from getting cracked in the head with my tank, if you drop a rock on me, assuming you don't kill me moron!

numan
hook my up with the name of that cool new LDS! I'm in Union, think I know who your talking about, but want to make sure.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!

I finally went there last week just to look around.

We tried a bunch of BCs on without buying, maybe that will make some of you LDSs happy!

Anyway it was funny, not a guy in the store was a diver. I think there's a bunch of divers running a camera shop somewhere if you know what I mean!

BUT they do know the specs on their products.

And you better sit down for this one.
I was checking out some wetsuits, that their prices are MUCH lower than everyone else's on (including online), and he pointed out another model, mainly because it was CHEAPER!

I had the same experience. I guess my only suggestion is you go there and buy with your own risk and you need to know what you want...

Give and take between cost or expericence/knowledge....

Yeah they may know the specs, but since their not divers I guess they can't tell why certain features are good or bad, at least not from experience.

I'm probably getting the big stuff from the shop you mentioned, that way I can try it out and for the reason mentioned above too.

But stuff like weights, wetsuits, and things my life doesn't depend upon I'll get at LeisurePro. Even with the tunnel, gas, parking, etc. that suff is still a lot cheaper there.

Actually we may take a shore trip in a few weeks and check out the end of summer sales at the surf shops for wetsuits!

I purchased my reg from my LDS. I got a Scubapro Mk18UL/S600 and a Scubapro octo for only $500!!! LP wants $600 just for the reg. Tack on another $100 just for the octo. I did buy my BC and computer from LP and have liked them so far. But I will continue to support my LDS just because of the friendly service. LDS even helped me setup my BC and told me how to use my computer even though I didn't buy it from them.

If you do some research on LP, you will find that they were sued in 1998 by Scubapro for selling knock off Scubapro BCs. Since LP isn't an authorized vendor for most scuba equipment, where do they get the equipment from? Could it be refurbished equipment or factory rejects? You don't know exactly what you get from LP. You are only hoping to get the original.

C'mon.

Let's see if we can verify this "story."

IF you really did buy such a reg + octo from your LDS, and IF you are not an instructor or employee, then this is a LDS that we all ought to know about.

Either name them with a phone number and/or address or I will say right here that I believe you're lying.

As for the knock-offs, (1) that as 4 years ago, and (2) fraud is a "have a banana" type of deal. If you, as a consumer, buy something that is a knock-off and misrepresented you can sue the originating company for fraud and recover not only three times the purchase price but also all fees and costs, never mind that such an action is also a criminal offense (on the part of the shop who does it)

Got a cite on that case you claim Scubapro filed? I'd like to look it up and see exactly what it was about.

Genesis: I can't find a link for you, but the ScubaPro BC thing is real. ScubaPro outsources the manufacturing of their BCs and for some reason changed the manufacturer. For a while, the factory that lost the contract still had all the authentic ScubaPro molds / dies / designs; they manufactured and sold a bunch of BCs to LeisurePro that used the ScubaPro designs but were not ScubaPro BCs. They might have also changed some of the materials.

Oh, and for all of you that want original, warrantied ScubaPro stuff? Buy from DiveInn.
