OK
it happened to me for the first time but yesterday I got the allergy. In fact I look as if somebody tried to strangle me with almost a perfect line around my neck.
It was not mine dry suit but a borrowed from a friend. I did two dives (one Saturday and one Sunday). There was nothing wrong with me on Saturday.
Do you think it's just this one day or I have developed latex allergy?

I get a similar mark around my neck if I go past 180 feet.. (latex seal) it usually goes away after a few days. It's a great attention getter though.. Chicks seem to dig it :14:

I have had this happen to me as well. I found if I used a well trimmed seal that the problem went away. Did the seal seem too tight? Also take your head out of the seal after the dive rather than spending your surfce interval with the top of the suit on.

Probably not, just hold the seal in your hands for a few minutes. If you have an allergy to latex, you'll get the same reaction. If not, it's probably the same thing jacek and Brian have experienced.

What Rob said... a latex allergy would be anywhere on your skin...not just your neck. So if you can hold latex without having a reaction, chances are it is not a allergic reaction. :)

Concur. Further unless neoprene was used on the wrist seals, a diver should have a reaction on wrists as well, so 'holding' the seal may not even be needed. Commonly the seal was a touch too tight, with the ring being the point of maximum compression. If it starts to fade after the dive rather than worsen, its likely that. Latex allergies without treatment tend to worsen after contact before simmering down.

I have had this from a too tight latex seal. Don't worry too much about it (but listen to those who have posted above!!)
