leiserom,
I sent a plane on Saturday to Cancun with +100 passengers on it. We did have an additional 70 who cancelled. I was advised not to talk about the hurricane. None of the passengers mentioned it. I figured they must not have seen a paper or TV news in the past few days. Still, I felt bad that they were all oblivious to what they were getting into.

I am glad that Coz held up so well & that there have been no reports of any deaths.

Does anyone know how the little hotel on the east side of the island held up? Ventanas al Mar, it is next door to Coconuts.

Gee Kat, Next time I need to book a trip, I want YOU to be my travel agent.

I'm really glad to hear some specific info and stories from the Island; thanks for everyone's who's contributing.

I really have to decide about this Thursday; I'm scheduled to fly to Cancun and bus/ferry to Coz. I can't get in touch with Roberta's Dive Eco-cozumel, and have no idea what to expect. This info is helping...as of now, it looks bad. But, it appears that most of the dive ops and locals may have fared well, and ultimately that's MUCH more important.

Roberta's is right by our shop, I'll see if I can't have Armando try to find her for you. MY GUESS - (Roberta is one of the most competent business women I know) her boats, shops & hotel are fine!
I know - it is the "bus/ferry" thing from Cancun that is the tough part of all of this. I am scheduled to do it TOMORROW, and am trying desperately today to get information as to if it can be done or not. As of last night - the ferries were still in Isla Mujeres. We'll see what today brings.

Does anybody know about the operating condition of the hotels. Is the Fiesta Americana open?
There was a meeting of the hotel GM's last evening for a status report and planning.
As soon as Armando calls this morning I will know more of what you are asking.
Will post as soon as I talk to him.

As of yesterday the road to the other side was still closed - so no word yet. As of late last night STILL no radio, so no system of public information ....yet. WIll try to find out for you this morning.

We are going Aug 14, I spoke with Dave from Aldora and he said the damage was minimal. So we are good to go. Kathy in Texas
By August 14th, outside of some naked trees, you will have NO problem!!!! It is this immediate future that is a challenge.

Hi Holly,

do you know, or could you please ask Armando when you speak to him, if the Coz airport is open for inbound tourists? We were supposed to arrive yesterday, then today, and now we are scheduled for tomorrow. I'm getting so much conflicting information on the status of allowing inbound tourists on the island. Thanks in advance!
