Someone here once made a list of dive boat accidents in Egypt, right? Could someone please share it? It seems like the list needs to be expanded again to include the M/Y Firebird... According to taucher.net (Facebook), it sank last night. But no fatality, luckily.

Edit, I see it was the user @scubadada - would you mind sharing your most recent list?
I got his list, added some information. Keep in mind there is not much public information, so had to revert to facebook posts and such, so I cannot vouch for its reliability nor accuracy. Also merged the information from this cool map by Jan-Philipp Lauer: Diving Liveaboard accidents since 2006 - Google My Maps

Unfortunately, Egypt takes half the global list. And I assume there are countless "almost" incidents that without luck could have ended differently.

For some reason I can post the table, trying as screenshot:

So, the question remains, how would one choose a safe liveaboard in the Red Sea today, prior to booking?

Three methods for me:

a) have a competent, independent and trustworthy person conduct in-person engagements with LOB operators to narrow the list of suitable candidates from which to choose

b) schedule a separate shore-diving trip that gives me time and location to conduct the interviews myself

c) dive somewhere else

Delusional assertions and appeals here on ScubaBoard on why Egyptian LOBs are a great choice amidst a growing body of evidence to the contrary has totally turned me off to bother with a) and b).
