Certainly not the best video, for those who have not been to the graveyard at Lake Jocassee, this will give you a glimpse of what it is like down there. If you don't know the history, this is the graveyard in the scene in the beginning of the movie Deliverance. All bodies and most of the memorials were removed, but some were left behind for a variety of legitimate reasons. Some of the stones are called coping stones and are used to outline the family plot. The depressions in the bottom (where the hand is, for example) is a grave site that remains quite clear.

This dive was made Sept. 9, the bottom was 115 feet and the temp was 51 degrees.

Neat video, great visibility down there :) not too cold either. One of these days, I'll have to pay my respects.

Del-Mo.
Did you go out with one of the charters or do you have your own boat? I would like to do that dive, while the lake is down.

Wow. Neat dive. I am putting that on my to-do list as well.

I went with Off The Wall Charters

Rick, captain/DM is a wealth of information about who what and where. His stories were worth the cost of admission alone.

The lake is down about 24 +/- feet at the moment.

There is a line from a beer keg down (currently just a couple of feet from the surface), and a line around the site at the bottom.

There is more to see than what showed up in my little video.

thats awesome. i've dove jocassee a ton of times but yet to do the graveyard. guess i need to talk to bill then. looks like an awesome dive

cool video

Was that a night dive or was it dark just because of the depth? I've not made a dive that deep and all my deep dives have been in the ocean. Also, that was hand sticking out from one of the graves?

Very cool video.
